Notes: | Son of Thomas E. Stanley, born in Belmont County, Ohio, and Martha B. Test, born in Ohio. Thomas and Martha (and many other relatives) are buried in Whittier Cemetery, Whittier, Linn County, Iowa. Lawrence served in the roentgenological (radiology) department of the U. S. Army during World War I. Leaving New York on the ship Plattsburg on August 30, 1918 he served in France 1918-1919. Perhaps while serving in France, Lawrence met his future wife, Marie-Louise Germaine Élisabeth Berthelot. In October 1921, while living in Lancaster, California, Lawrence applied for a passport to travel to France for the purpose of pleasure, intending to leave from the port of New York on November 20th; on December 26th he arrived back at the port of New York aboard the ship Carmania which had departed Cherbourg, France on December 17th; with him is his wife Marie Louise who is a citizen by the fact of their marriage, and their address is Lancaster, California. The three children of Lawrence and Marie-Louise were born in Lancaster, California. The first born, Roland Thomas Stanley, died young and is buried here at Lancaster Cemetery with his parents. On his Stanley line, the great grandparents of Lawrence were…. John Stanley and Mary Ann Woolman who begat Samuel Woolman Stanley who married Mary Vail and begat Thomas E. Stanley who married Martha B. Test and begat Lawrence Daniel Stanley Daniel Test and Ann D. Lawrence were the maternal grandparents of Lawrence. |
