Notes: | Daughter of René Berthelot and Élisabeth Lindauer. Marie-Louise was probably born in the town of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia, Austria (see note). On December 17, 1921 Marie-Louise departed from Cherbourg, France aboard the ship 'Carmania' bound for the port of New York in the company of her husband Lawrence Daniel Stanley. Lawrence, a natural born United States citizen, had served in France during World War I, and had obtained a passport to travel to France in October 1921. It is likely Lawrence and Marie-Louise had been married in France, and this deserves more research. The ship manifest lists their United States address as Lancaster, California. Marie-Louise and Lawrence were the parents of three, all born in Lancaster, California. First born Roland Thomas Stanley died at age 3 and is buried with his parents at Lancaster Cemetery |
